Sample Wedding Vows

The Marriage Act 1961 sets out the minimum words that must be used within the married ceremony by couples getting married.  The Act states that the couple getting married must say to each other in the presence of the celebrant and the witnesses the words:

"I call upon the persons here present to witness that I, A.B. (or C.D.), that thee, C.D. (or A.B.) to
be my lawful wedded wife (or husband)"; or word to that effect.

There is only limited scope to change this minimum wording but there is nothing preventing couples  adding their own text to the basic vows, to personalise them so they are special and individual to you.

The following are some examples.
